SUMMARY:Cambridge Fens Paddle on 12th April 2025
DESCRIPTION:There are no plans to take a trailer so paddlers will need to be self-sufficient\, transporting boats and equipment. All participants must be suitably experienced and have Paddle UK membership or similar licence for paddling on the River Cam. \nMeet at the car park opposite The Bridge entrance before 09.30\, on the water by 10.00. Only one portage at Bottisham Lock\, the plan is to paddle from Waterbeach to Upware\, Ely. Stopping for refreshment at Five Miles from Anywhere No Hurry Inn\, before returning.  \nNo facilities available at the meeting point. If required Tesco Superstore\, Cambridge Road\, Milton\, CB24 6AY just off a roundabout on the A14. \nFor more information and book your space on the tour\, email the organiser with your name\, contact telephone number and an emergency contact number. \nAny cancellations require at least 24 hours notice. \nPlease advise if you are able to offer roof space for another boat if necessary. \nPlease note the following: \n\nThis tour is considered suitable for paddlers who have completed their Discovery award and have some prior experience.\nPaddlers should bring their National Governing Body membership card or River Cam licence.\nSuitable clothing for the conditions\, additional clothing in dry bag and safety kit.\nFor tour safety\, this trip is restricted to 16 paddlers..\n\nOrganiser: Mary Walkinton. Email: m3w190@gmail.com or Tel 07901 565034 \nBy signing up to this tour\, the paddler accepts the following consent conditions: \n\nI understand that the qualified coach leading the tour will make dynamic risk assessment during the tour and agree to abide by any decisions they make\, including cancelling/curtailing the tour if they decide the risk s compromise the safety of the Touring members.\nUnder 16’s must be under the supervision of an adult coach or parent/ guardian whilst on the tour.\nFor tours not on the Chelmer & Blackwater Canal\, membership of the National Governing Body is required and must be shown to the tour organiser.\nBoats and equipment may be hired by arrangement with the Equipment Officer or the relevant club section.\nCopies of the Club constitution & rules are displayed on the Club noticeboard and can be obtained from the club secretary (the cost of printing these may be charged).\n\nAs part of my membership of Chelmsford Canoe Club\, I understand that canoeing can be a hazardous activity\, and is undertaken ay my own risk. I confirm that I have read the constitution and the rules of the club\, and that any property left at the club or taken on the tour will be entirely at my own risk. I understand that I may be liable for any damage to Club equipment that is hired to me. I also confirm that I am able to swim 50 metres in clothing. \n
