SUMMARY:Cambridge Tour 22nd November
DESCRIPTION:Planning to paddle through the City of Cambridge; the Lock House\, Jesus Green (only portage) is just over 1 mile from the Plough and then passing the back of the colleges turning by Laundress Green and return. \nMeet in the car park of The Plough at 09.30\, on the water by 10.00. Please park to the rear of the car park and we will launch from their riverbank. Parking is with agreement to eat there afterwards. \nNo facilities available at the pub until they open at 11.00. If required Tesco Superstore\, Cambridge Road\, Milton\, CB24 6AY just off a roundabout on the A14. \nThere are no plans to take a trailer so paddlers will need to be self sufficient\, transporting boats and equipment. All participants must be suitably experienced and have Paddle UK membership or similar licence for paddling on the River Cam. \nFor more information and book your space on the tour\, email the organiser with your name\, contact telephone number and an emergency contact number. Any cancellations require at least 24 hours notice. \nPlease advise if you are able to offer roof space for another boat if necessary. \nPlease note the following: \n\nThis tour is considered suitable for paddlers who have completed their Discovery award and have some prior experience.\nPaddlers should bring proof of their National Governing Body membership or River Cam licence.\nSuitable clothing for the conditions\, additional clothing in dry bag and safety kit.\nFor tour safety\, tour numbers will depend on the number of coaches attending.\nAll further details will be issued via the watts app group created for this paddle.\n\nBy signing up to this tour\, the paddler accepts the following consent conditions: \n\nI understand that the qualified coach leading the tour will make dynamic risk assessment during the tour and agree to abide by any decisions they make\, including cancelling/curtailing the tour if they decide the risks compromise the safety of the Tour members.\nUnder 16’s must be under the supervision of an adult coach or parent/ guardian whilst on the tour.\nFor tours not on the Chelmer & Blackwater Canal\, membership of the National Governing Body is required and must be shown to the tour organiser.\nBoats and equipment may be hired by arrangement with the Equipment Officer or the relevant club section.\nCopies of the Club constitution & rules are displayed on the Club noticeboard and can be obtained from the club secretary (the cost of printing these may be charged).\n\nAs part of my membership of Chelmsford Canoe Club\, I understand that canoeing can be a hazardous activity\, and is undertaken at my own risk. SUMMARY:Waldringfield\, Saturday 23rd August 2025
DESCRIPTION:The tour starts from the Maybush Inn and follows the river Deben upstream to Woodbridge where we can pause before paddling back down river to Waldringfield. The tour length is approximately 3 miles each way\, but participants have the option of going beyond Woodbridge a further 1.5-2 miles making the paddle approximately 9-10 miles long. There are no plans to take a trailer so paddlers will need to be self-sufficient and helping other paddlers if you have roof space is appreciated. \nMeet at Maybush Inn car park IP12 4QL at 09.30 to be on the water for 10:00 (High tide is at 13:00). Car park charges are £3.00 for 5 hours or £5 all day. We are planning on eating at the pub after the paddle so please indicate when booking your space if you would like to stay for lunch. \nFor more information and to book your space on the tour\, email the organiser with your name\, contact telephone number\, and emergency contact number. SUMMARY:Brightlingsea Tour POSTPONED*
DESCRIPTION:*Unfortunately due to the Brightlingsea Regatta this tour has been postponed. \nThis is a sea paddle\, and all paddlers will need to be independent in terms of transport and equipment. \nThe tour will commence at Brightlingsea harbour at around 09.45 to be on the water for 10.am. Launching is available from either the Hard {the harbour itself} or the hammer head pontoon depending on weather conditions. Parking is available in the Tower Street car park {CO7 0AP}.  The cost of parking is around £4 for 4 hours. It is situated at the bottom of Tower Street just behind the Harbour Master’s office. From here there is a short walk to the launch point. \nAll participants will need to be suitably experienced paddling tidal water and have Paddle UK membership or other similar license for paddling. \nThe tour will leave Brightlingsea harbour and turn right up the river Colne keeping the seafront in sight on the right. There will be about an hour and half’s paddle to Whitehouse beach where we will break for lunch. From here we can either return to Brightlingsea directly or paddle up Aylesford creek to the tidal mill before returning. Paddlers should bring their own lunch and hot beverage. \nPlease note this tour is dependant on good weather conditions and therefore may be subject to change at short notice. \nFor more information and to book your space on the tour\, email the organiser with your name\, contact telephone number\, and emergency contact number. SUMMARY:Maylandsea to Maldon Tour 24 May 2025
DESCRIPTION:This is an estuary paddle on tidal water\, and all paddlers will need to be independent in terms of transport and equipment. \nThe tour will commence at the Blackwater Marina at Maylandsea. Meet around 09.00 to be on the water for 09:30am. Parking is available at the Blackwater Quay Bar CM3 6AP and the plan is to stop for lunch after the paddle. \nAll participants will need to be suitably experienced paddling tidal water and have British Canoe membership or other similar license for paddling. \nThe tour will leave Maylandsea\, paddling up the creek to join the river Blackwater where we will turn right and either paddle towards Maldon or around Osea Island depending on river and weather conditions. Paddlers should bring their own snacks and drinks sufficient for a 3-4 hr paddle. \nPlease note this tour is dependant on good weather conditions and therefore may be subject to change at short notice. \nFor more information and to book your space on the tour\, email the organiser with your name\, contact telephone number\, and emergency contact number. Please let the organiser know if you can offer roof rack space for another boat if necessary. \nInformation\, changes\, and updates about this tour will be posted on the club website and\, where possible\, on the club noticeboard. \nPlease note the following: \n\nThis tour is considered suitable for paddlers who have completed the BC 2 Star or Discovery award\, and have some prior experience paddling tidal water. \nFor tour safety\, this trip is restricted to 12 paddlers maximum. Regrettably\, if you don’t put your name down but turn up on the day and there are already 12 paddlers\, we will have to turn you away. If the tour is oversubscribed\, please contact the tour leader 24 hours before the tour\, as there are sometimes cancellations.\nPaddlers should bring their National Governing Body membership card and be of at least Explore standard or equivalent.
