River Stort Old Harlow Tour Saturday 7th November

November 7 @ 08:00 - 17:00

From The Moorhen Pub at Burnt Mill Lock, Harlow

There are no plans to take a trailer so paddlers will need to be self sufficient, transporting boats and equipment. All participants must be suitably experienced and have Paddle UK membership for paddling on the River Stort Navigation.

Meet in the car park of The Moorhen at 09.30, on the water by 10.00. Please note, road closures currently mean you can only access this venue via High Wych and Redricks Lane.

At this time, this parking is provisional as ANPR is due to be installed in the Moorhen car park imminently, date as yet unknown.

Alternative car parking is available close by.

There is a free car park at the dead end of Burnt Mill Close and free parking on the approach lane to it. Access to this car park and area however is NOT accessible by vehicle from the Moorhen Car Park.  Access is via Burntmill Lane off the A414.

The tour organiser will be in contact with The Moorhen Manager Sarah, closer to the tour date and will further confirm the parking arrangements.

No facilities available at the pub until they open at 12.00 noon. Intention is to have lunch here at 1pm.  Menu | The Moorhen, Harlow

We can paddle in either direction

Option 1 – To Roydon Lock and back – two locks en route, roughly a mile apart – six mile round trip passing through Parndon Mill Lock and by the River Stort Sculpture Trail or

Option 2 – In the direction of Bishops Stortford to Harlow Mill Lock – two locks en route spaced 0.9, 0.9 and 1 mile apart.  (The next lock on is Feakes Lock, 0.65 miles further giving a round trip of 6.9 miles which may be a little ambitious)
